El Ayuntamiento de Plasencia ha presentado esta mañana la nueva edición de la Feria del Libro, que se celebrará del 21 al 25 de mayo en la Plaza Mayor. Este evento, que se ha consolidado como uno de los más importantes del calendario cultural de la ciudad, ofrecerá más de 25 actividades y contará con la participación de librerías locales, autores de renombre y nuevas voces de la literatura extremeña.
Una feria para todos los públicos
La concejala de Cultura, M.ª Luisa Bermejo, ha destacado que la feria busca ofrecer una programación diversa y accesible para todos los públicos: «Como todos los años, hemos preparado un nutrido programa de actividades que comenzarán el miércoles 21 de mayo a las seis de la tarde, cuando se inaugurará la feria con la presentación del libro ‘Lecturas a ponientes’ de Álvaro Valverde, publicado por la Editora Regional de Extremadura. Además, habrá espacio para el público más joven con presentaciones de las colecciones infantiles ‘Anna Kadabra’ y ‘Marcus Pocus’ de Pedro Mañas, cuentacuentos y espectáculos de magia.»
La feria también contará con la participación de destacadas librerías de la región, como El Jardín Secreto, El Quijote, El Tintero, La Batcueva, La Puerta de Tannhäuser, Mary Percy, A la Vuelta la Luna y la Editora Regional de Extremadura, que instalarán sus casetas en la Plaza Mayor.
Diversidad literaria y compromiso con los autores locales
Por su parte, Juan Ramón Santos, técnico de Cultura del Ayuntamiento, ha subrayado el enfoque regional de esta edición: «Este año hemos querido dar especial relevancia a la literatura extremeña.

In addition, there will be space for the younger audience with presentations of the children’s collections ‘Anna Kadabra’ and ‘Marcus Pocus’ by Pedro Mañas, storytelling, and magic shows.»
The fair will also feature the participation of prominent bookstores from the region, such as El Jardín Secreto, El Quijote, El Tintero, La Batcueva, La Puerta de Tannhäuser, Mary Percy, A la Vuelta la Luna, and the Regional Publisher of Extremadura, who will set up their booths in the Plaza Mayor.
Literary diversity and commitment to local authors
Juan Ramón Santos, the Culture technician of the City Council, emphasized the regional focus of this edition: «This year we wanted to give special relevance to Extremaduran literature. The program includes presentations such as ‘Los últimos del oeste’, an anthology of Extremaduran poets from the 21st century coordinated by Dionisio López, which aims to reflect the current literary richness of the region.»
Santos also highlighted the importance of poetry in this edition, with events like the poetic-musical recital on Friday, May 23, featuring Carmen Hernández Urbano and Basilio Sánchez, accompanied by the double bassist Enrique Tejado and the illustrator Leticia Ruiz Fernández, who also designed the poster for this edition.
A space for new voices and young readers
The program also includes activities for young people, such as the presentation of the latest works by Pedro Mañas and a show by Mago Juanje. According to Bermejo, «It is important for the youth to feel part of this fair. We want them to discover new authors and approach literature through different formats.»
Closing with a Plasencia flavor
The fair will conclude on Sunday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation of the book ‘En el bosque la poca luz’ by the Plasencia poet Iván Hernández Montero, a work deeply linked to the city and its natural surroundings. Please rewrite this sentence.
