The Equality Department of the City Council of Plasencia presented this morning the second edition of the «Women’s Wellbeing School,» a commitment to the comprehensive health care of women, working from the body, mind, and emotions. The initiative will have four training sessions throughout the year, with the participation of prominent professionals in the health and psychological fields.
During the presentation, the Equality Councilor, M.ª Teresa Díaz, highlighted the importance of this initiative and the figure of its main speaker, Dr. Carmen Sánchez Alegría, a doctor with over 30 years of experience in hospital emergencies and a training background that ranges from medicine to emotional intelligence:
“Carmen is all heart. As her book says: Love is the best medicine. And that is what she conveys in every talk, because when you speak from the heart, you always hit the mark. I invite all women from Plasencia, and anyone else who wants to join, to be inspired by a woman with an impressive resume and an even greater humanity.”
The 2nd Women’s Wellbeing School will offer interactive meetings where not only will you listen, but you will also experience physical, mental, and emotional self-care practices. The first workshop will take place tomorrow, April 15, in the Social Services Auditorium from 11:00 to 13:00, and will focus on the body and its «superpowers» for living with more health and energy.
In the words of Dr. Carmen Sánchez Alegría:
“The key is to connect the brain with the heart. Because when we decide from the heart, even when diagnosing, we reach the other person in a more authentic way. All the diseases I see in emergencies have their origin in the inconsistency between what we feel, think, and do.”
The cycle will continue on May 7, addressing the power of the mind; on October 9, with a session dedicated to emotional management, and will culminate on October 23 with the renowned psychologist and writer María Jesús Álava Reyes, who will present her latest book Don’t Let Anyone Manipulate Your Emotions.
The Equality Department wanted to emphasize that, although the focus is on women’s well-being, the school is open to all citizens:
“It is about learning to live better, regardless of gender. Taking care of our physical, mental, and emotional health does not depend on chromosomes, but on humanity,” added Sánchez Alegría.
