The president of the World Heritage City Group and the mayor of Segovia, José Mazarías, presented today the programming of the «Heritage Night, Nit of Heritage, for Heritage Night,» which takes place on Saturday, September 13 in the 15 heritage cities of Spain. An event in which, as Mázarias emphasized, «We open the historic headphones of the 15 monumental cities with a unique program in Europe to celebrate the great cultural heritage party, with hundreds of free proposals for everyone.»

The chapter of the Segovia Cathedral, which celebrates 500 years since the beginning of its construction this year, was the setting for presenting the extensive programming, organized by the World Heritage City group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAAM). The group president highlighted the cities’ participation «in a spectacular technical and human behavior to show the world the beauty of our monuments, the richness of our history and traditions, and also to share the hospitality that 15 comfortable, friendly, and universal cities offer.»

José Mazarías emphasized the group’s commitment to improving the quality of each edition, indicating that «this year we present a very varied and multidisciplinary program, which includes expressions of intangible heritage and the tradition of each city; music, theater, gastronomy, activities for family audiences, and also with the novelty of a specific generation,»

The dissemination of heritage is one of the main objectives of the Heritage Night, as highlighted during the presentation by the Director General of Cultural Heritage and Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Culture, «Albert León:» The CLOW has existed for more than twenty years between the Ministry of Culture and the Group, as well as the programs, within the dissemination and Value of Heritage «.

The heritage night is structured in three sections, common to 15 cities:

As a preview of the open heritage section, the program includes exceptional opening monuments, museums, and heritage spaces, such as:

  • Baeza – The Church of the Incarnation
  • Cáceres – Goddelédrica by Santa María
  • Córdoba – Alcázar of Kings Christian
  • Cuenca – Hanging Houses
  • Ibiza – The Museum of Art of Art
  • Mérida – House of the Mithraeum
  • Salamanca – Towers of Clereía
  • San Cristóbal de la Laguna – Hermitage of Santo Domingo de Guzmán
  • Santiago de Compostela – Pazo de Caxoi in Plaza del Ojodeiro
  • Segovia – Jewish Educational Center
  • Tarragona – Praetorium and Roman Circus
  • Toledo – Garden and the Church of San Lucas

  • Alcalá de Henares: Concert by Ismael González at the Cervantes Salon Theater.
  • Ávila: Exhibition of medieval and attics costumes at the Verdugo Palace.
  • Baeza: Concert by the Baza de Ebimatic Puerto de Toledo Music Band.
  • Cáceres: Concerts by young artists at the main entrance of the Cáceres Museum (Plaza de Las Veletas).
  • Córdoba: Recitals by young poets of the city at the emblematic Fuenseca tavern.
  • Cuenca: The action of the city’s music band in the Poet Garden.
  • Ibiza: Concerts of «Night at the Baluard,» at Baluarte from San Pedro.
  • Mérida: Popular dance and exhibition of various artistic disciplines related to extreme folklore at the Alcazaba Arabes.
  • Salamanca: Guided tours of the Domus Artium exhibitions.
  • San Cristóbal de la Laguna: «Heritage in Motion,» an activity where a collection of digitized films of audiovisual heritage in San Cristóbal de la Laguna will be designed. At the former monastery in Santo Domingo, Crystal Room.
  • Santiago de Compostela: Thematic activities for the heritage area
  • Segovia: Specially guided tours in the walled gardens.
  • Tarragona: Activity related to intangible heritage: «Meeting of Diables and Balls de Dables,» a meeting of eleven groups of fire dancers, which will take place in the most central streets of Tarragona.
  • Toledo: Concert by ANA Alcaide at Adarve de la Puerta del Sol.
  • Úbeda: Historical recreation of Roman legionaries at the Archaeological Museum.

Carlos Velázquez also recalled that on Saturday, September 13, at the Heritage Stage Festival, «15 pieces by recognized and emerging choreographers will be showcased, including 7 world premieres and a national premiere. The Balearic Islands, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Catalonia, Madrid community, guest companies from Italy, Japan, and Taiwan.»
